Hello, I would like to know which is the best first food to start complementary feeding?
Hi MarÃa, to date there hasn’t been found any scientific evidence on the benefits introducing food in any specific sequence, however, your baby’s first foods should contain a high nutritional density. Consider offering foods that provide good amounts of nutrients such as iron and zinc, which are especially needed during this stage of accelerated growth (brain development) of the baby.
Grains and meat or fortified baby-cereals are great sources of iron and zinc. Also offering vegetables (repeated exposure) could increase the preference and acceptance of these at a later age. But remember that the most important thing is to offer diversity in the diet, this will ensure a greater and diverse supply of nutrients.
