Hi Adriana, regarding your question the Baby-led-weaning method skips the initial puree phase, thus starting directly with appropriate presented finger foods (soft and easy to grasp), which facilitates infants’ self-feeding from the beginning of the complementary feeding process.
In our opinion, offering purees and mashed foods to babies even if they are practicing blw is a way to expand their exposure to a wider variety of textures and acceptance of different foods. Furthermore, purees and semi-liquid foods are also part of a varied diet in adulthood (dips, sauces, soups, yogurt, etc). If you offer these types of textures, allow her/him to feed herself/himself, letting him pick up the spoon on his own and bring it to his mouth.
